Endorsements and graduation requirements

Core classes

All students need to take core classes to graduate high school. These include science, math, social studies, and English. You’ll also take fine arts, foreign language, and physical education. Learn more about core graduation requirements.

Classes required to earn this endorsement

In addition to your core classes, you’ll complete additional classes to earn an endorsement. These classes focus on a specific subject or skill set. Check with your counselor or use the MapMyGrad to find the right classes at your school.

Career focus

With this career path you need to complete four advanced classes that prepare you to enter the workforce or postsecondary education.

Foundations

With this career path you need to complete four classes from the core class subject areas. This must include chemistry or physics and English IV.

Advanced

With this career path you need to complete four AP, IB, or dual credit classes. Classes should be in one of the core class subject areas.

Meet Jesse

Jesse is a senior in high school from San Antonio. He’s working toward his Distinguished Level of Achievement high school diploma on the Multidisciplinary Studies path. Jesse dreams of launching his own startup someday. He has decided to study at UT Austin, where he wants to double major in business and communication.

Meet Stephanie

In high school, Stephanie was an athlete and a strong student with many interests. After high school, she started community college and got a job as an administrative assistant at a small law firm. Though she originally thought she might want to be a teacher, she found that she loved the law. Stephanie recently finished her law degree at the University of Houston Law Center.
