Commitment to Privacy: As part of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s (THECB) Commitment to privacy, this consent document is designed to inform you of how the THECB collects and processes the information you share when you utilize My Texas Future (MTF) and allow you to determine whether to consent to these uses.
About MTF: MTF is an innovative portal designed to propel more Texas residents to degree, credential, or certificate completion, managed by THECB. The THECB is a state agency that provides leadership and coordination for higher education in the state of Texas.
Access Conditioned on Accepting Terms: Your access to and use of My Texas Future is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all persons who access or use MTF. By accessing or using the Services you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the Terms, then you may not access the Services and should send a support ticket to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board at https://support.texasoncourse.org requesting cancellation of your account. If at any time, you wish to withdraw your consent, please submit a ticket to the THECB at https://support.texasoncourse.org.
Updates to Terms: The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board reserves the right to modify and/or correct this agreement at any time; your continued use of these Services implies agreement with the modified terms. This is the first version of this policy, and a record of any modifications will be available here. Modified terms will appear as a “pop up” upon accessing My Texas Future.
By accepting, you are:
- Consenting to share all information you provide through the creation or updating of your MTF online profile with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and institutions of higher education that you may designate. This includes personally identifiable information such as your name, date of birth, phone number, email, race ethnicity, gender, and zip code. It also includes any image you supplied for your profile and other information you provided including information about you, your education and work experience, and goals.
- Consenting to utilize any photograph or image you supplied publicly as part of your MTF profile. Note that a photograph or image is not required to access My Texas Future.
- Consenting to share advising notes with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and institutions you designate. Advising notes refer to information that an adviser may include on your MTF account.
- Consenting to allow collection of data about your use of MTF, including frequency of use, duration of use, and engagement with specific components and functionality of the Services. Collecting and analyzing this data is necessary for us to understand how students and educators are using the resources, to improve their efficacy, and to develop training materials for educators implementing the resources.
- Consenting that all information in your My Texas Future account may be shared with qualified researchers and other personnel engaged by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to inform agency reporting and services and insights as well as to better understand and support learners.
- Agreeing that you are older than 18 years of age.

CONSENT: By accepting this form, you agree to allow the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to utilize and share the data you provide and that are indicated within this document. You understand you may revoke this Consent by submitting a ticket https://support.texasoncourse.org.
HOW THECB USES YOUR DATA: The Learner Profile data is critical to the functionality and utility of the My Texas Future portal and directly supports users’ ability to find relevant information on careers and programs, as well as connect with advisors. The data is used to customize recommendations within the My Texas Future site and is made available to institutional advisors via external Customer Relations Software for advising purposes. This information will also better equip institutional advisors to prepare for and conduct advising activities with learners. While institutions you designate will have access to this information, the data you share will be stored securely at The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
SECURITY OF YOUR DATA: Data collected through MTF will be protected and secured in compliance with privacy and confidentiality regulations, to the fullest extent allowed by law. The THECB has a sound data security program, one that protects both data at rest and in transmission.
SHARING DATA: Datafrom your My Texas Future account may be shared with qualified researchers and other personnel engaged by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to inform operations and services and insights to better understand and support learners. Data may also be shared with authorized representatives of the THECB for information technology purposes to maintain and improve My Texas Future and provide other agency services, as well as with other governmental entities as required by law. The THECB will protect your data to the fullest extent allowed by law.
DESTRUCTION OF DATA: The THECB will maintain your user profile information if you maintain a profile on MTF, as long as the service is active. If you choose to remove your profile from the service, it will no longer be available to institutions you have designated. However, the THECB may maintain the information you have shared for research purposes and for agency operations. Data will be destroyed in accordance with agency record retention policies.
MARKETING AND ADVERTISING: No data collected will be used for external marketing purposes or sold to any party for any reason. Users will receive information and updates from THECB.
TERMINATION OF SERVICE: We may terminate or suspend access to our Services immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms or Service.
LINKS TO OTHER WEB SITES: MTF may contain links to third-party web sites or services that are not owned or controlled by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party web sites or services. You further acknowledge and agree that we shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods or services available on or through any such web sites or services.
OWNERSHIP OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board shall own all Intellectual Property Rights in or relating to MTF. Intellectual Property Rights means any rights or titles to inventions, discoveries, concepts, methods, processes, data, trade secrets, branding, trademarks, copyrights, computer programs and related documentation, works of authorship fixed in a medium of expression, or mask works, whether or not patentable, copyrightable, eligible for registration as a trademark, or subject to mask work rights or other similar statutory rights, as well as applications for any such rights which are created or produced to deliver MTF.
SOVEREIGN IMMUNITY: No part of these Terms of Service, nor your use of MTF, or any subsequent modification of these terms shall be construed: (1) as a waiver of the doctrine of sovereign immunity or immunity from suit as provided for in the Texas Constitution and the laws of the State of Texas; (2) to extend liability to THECB beyond such liability provided for in the Texas Constitution and the Laws of the State of Texas; or (3) as a waiver of any immunity provided by the 11th Amendment or any other provision of the United States Constitution or any immunity recognized by the Courts and the laws of the State of Texas and the United States. The State of Texas and THECB specifically retain such immunity and all defenses available to them under the laws of the State of Texas or the common law.
