Studying takes motivation, focus, and prioritization. After a long day of school, sometimes you may not feel like giving studying the effort it deserves. Finding what works for you can help you make the most of your study sessions. Try out some of these helpful study tips below.&nbsp;

Make studying a part of your routine. Maybe you prefer to take a break after school, or maybe you want to start studying right away. Maybe at dinner, your family reads to you or quizzes you to give your eyes a break. Whatever works for you, set it up and make it a habit.

Set a schedule 

Use a calendar to track assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams. Using a calendar allows you to pace yourself by determining which days you need to study or periodically reviewing your notes.

Plan ahead

Break up notes into small pieces (chunks), and plan out time to focus on certain areas on certain days.

Chunk

After studying a section of notes, close your materials and repeat the information back by speaking, writing, or sketching. This will help you remember information, and it is especially helpful when studying with a friend.

Speak, write, sketch

Pause and write an example (or evidence) of what you’re studying. Your examples will help you better remember and understand your study topic.

Explore examples

Use a highlighter, pen, notecards, or even stickers to annotate, or make notes, in your notebook. You can also use these materials on your handouts during class, on your reading assignments, or while you study later on.  
For example, to annotate your materials you can underline unfamiliar words, draw arrows to show related ideas, or use a star to label important ideas.
